Distal ureteric atresia presenting as an abdominal lump in an adult

چکیده
A 26-year-old female, presented with discomfort and a lump in the left side of abdomen. Examination showed a non-tender cystic mass in the left lumbar region extending down to the pelvis, the lower limit being palpable through the left fornix. Investigations revealed a cystic mass extending from the left renal area to the pelvis and a nonvisualized left kidney. Cystoscopy could not identify the left ureteric orifice. Surgical exploration showed a blind ending left ureter as a cystic mass, containing clear fluid capped by a hypoplastic left kidney. The mass extended from the left renal area to the pelvis. Left sided nephroureterectomy was performed.

Congenital Pyloric Atresia with Distal Duodenal Atresia- Role of CT Scan
The mainstay of diagnosis of congenital pyloric atresia is by plain X-ray of the abdomen showing a large gas bubble with no gas distally. But very rarely it can be associated with distal duodenal atresia when the baby may present as lump abdomen. In such a situation apart from the X-ray, another radiological investigation is needed to delineate the exact nature of the lump. Since the role of ul...

SUMMARY A radiologically gasless abdomen in a neonate with EA is usually regarded as being pathognomonic of an absence of distal T.E.F. It has been estimated that up to 1.5% of patient with a distal fistula may have a radiologically gasless abdomens as a manifestation of a very small fistula plugged with mucus. In this case a contrast study via the gastrostomy demonstrated a fistula between th...

We present a case of triple gut atresias (foregut, midgut and hindgut) with multiple congenital anomalies presenting as imperforate anus. Abdominal radiography showed the double bubble sign. Upper gastrointestinal study through a nasogastric tube confirmed duodenal obstruction. Exploratory laparotomy, duodeno-duodenostomy for duodenal atresia and a left descending colostomy for anorectal malfor...

متن کاملAdult Ureterocele Presenting with Ureteral Obstruction and Urosepsis during Pregnancy.
INTRODUCTION Ureteroceles are cystic dilatations of the distal ureter that occur due to congenital ureteric wall weakness. They can be orthotopic, occurring in normal ureteric locations and most commonly seen in adults. On the other hand, heterotopic ureteroceles are located in ectopic ureters or in ectopic duplex renal systems, and are more common in children. Ureterocele causing obstruction i...
